 COC's Spiritual
Services are based on and carried out in numerous ways: ~~Through the
Spiritual Services program people with disabilities can experience the joy of
knowing they are of value to God.
~~From the Scripture we learn that
Jesus during his ministry had a special concern for them. In Matthew 25:40 He
tells us "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
~~People with
disabilities can make progress in their lives through spiritual care and
nourishment.

Christian Opportunity Center develops the spiritual life through:
~~The interactions of staff with people supported.
~~Devotions
provided for staff persons and prayer at the beginning of meetings and the work
week.
~~Devotions for people supported through COC in their homes and
work place.
The employment of a Spiritual Services Facilitator
who: ~~Meets with people and counsels, offers guidance and comfort in
times of crisis and personal needs.
~~Provides guidance to nearly ten
Friendship and Friends Who Care Bible Studies. These are carried out in local
churches, and offer times of fellowship, learning, and participating in the
church's' life and work.
~~Encourages and arranges for church
attendance on Sundays.
~~Helps to organize celebrations of special days
such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter, to which all
people supported at COC, their families, guardians, and staff persons are
invited.
Spiritual Retreats are provided for staff and people
supported at COC. These retreats make possible an experience at a retreat
center away from COC. Those attending have an opportunity for spiritual renewal
and growth.
COC makes a difference in the lives of people with
disabilities through acceptance, spiritual guidance, instruction, and love.
